St. Petersburg Scientists Develop Eco-Friendly Soil Stabilization Method
Researchers in St. Petersburg have created an environmentally clean technique for soil reinforcement, applicable for construction and road-building. Instead of chemicals, the method uses pulverized paper and a special solution.
Daria Golovkina, Junior Research Fellow at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the St. Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (part of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center), explains:
"We introduce Bacillus lehiliiformis bacteria – a completely harmless strain found naturally in soil, water, and air."
